Growing in praise!
”I will exalt you, my God the King: I will praise your name forever and ever.” (Psalm 145:1)
“My mouth will speak praise of the Lord…” (Ps. 145:21)
A Prayer. . .
Father, You have blessed my life so abundantly; and graced me with eternity. How could I ever complain? But I do. When something or someone doesn’t meet my expectations, I drift to complaining or worse, terrible thoughts of fear and strife. I confess that and claim Your cleansing by Your blood for sins of my thoughts and mouth. And I claim forgiveness for my entitlement attitude, my ‘taking for granted’ what I assume will always be in my life.
Deliver me from the evils of my mouth and give me Your thoughts and mouth. You said You would be my mouth and give me words and wisdom to withstand under pressure (Luke 21:14-15). Your word tells us our tongue has the power to speak life or death; I will not focus on my faults when I have spoken things that have not pleased You. I claim Your ability to speak life and praise to You every day. I can and will speak praise to You, to exalt You, to speak praises to You in ways I have never known before!
Praising You is not boring; it’s refreshing! Exalting You Lord Jesus, fills me with the Holy Spirit. Speaking praise even when I don’t feel it, is faith that pleases You.
Thank You for giving me gifts of praise; fill my mouth with gratitude and praise. I claim it today in this prayer. Bless the Lord, O my soul. . .
